Most people think that if they do not have a back or neck problem they do not need a chiropractor or chiropractic care. Chiropractors take care of more than just back and neck pain. We are highly educated as physicians to treat you from head to toe and everything in between. The main difference between chiropractic doctors and medical doctors is that we do not write prescriptions or do surgery. However in some states chiropractors are allowed to write prescriptions, deliver babies an even sew up minor lacerations. Unfortunately Oklahoma is not one of those states. Oklahoma chiropractors have a broad scope of practice; to include injectable vitamin therapy, order and draw lab, IV chelation therapy, order MRI's, CT's, Bone Density studies and X-rays. Some of these require further education, but it is available for all chiropractors in Oklahoma.
I, unlike most chiropractors, practiced medicine as a physician assistant (PA) prior to going into chiropractic college. I just thought my PA education was difficult until I started the chiropractic program. Chiropractic school was a very intense, demanding and rigorous program. I am telling you this just to get the point across that Chiropractic physicians are highly educated and treat more than just back and neck pain. So, if your not sure who you should see about your illness, injury or pain, contact your Chiropractor today! This is a very good question. Most people do not understand chiropractic care much less who can receive it. This is an easy question to answer, and I can do it in one word - Everyone!!
